Are you looking for an agricultural health and safety professional to join your team? Not sure what credentials you should be looking for when selecting candidates?
You’re in luck. CASA has developed a comprehensive National Occupational Standard for Agricultural Occupational Health and Safety Specialists.
This work was undertaken in cooperation with the Canadian Agricultural Human Resources Council (CAHRC) and identifies in extensive detail the skills, knowledge and competencies required of an Agricultural Occupational Health and Safety Specialist.
How to Use the Document
This National Occupational Standard can be used as a reference tool to help farmers develop procedural documents, create job descriptions, conduct performance reviews, develop a safety plan, and hire an appropriate agricultural health and safety consultant.
This is a lengthy reference document. Producers, consultants or business representatives can take the information and adapt it as needed or only use the sections of the document that they find most useful.
Who Should Use the Document
• Primary producers developing, strengthening or reinforcing the health and safety practices of their farm or ranch.
• Consultants looking to ensure they have the appropriate skill set and qualifications required to be an Agricultural Occupational Health and Safety Specialist.
• Businesses looking to address agricultural health and safety in their operations.
Download the document today, or download and print out a two-page summary of the NOS.
CASA staff members are available to answer any questions you may have about the standards and guide you through the process of using them on your farm.
