CASA Welcomes New Board Member at Annual Conference

October 21, 2016, Charlottetown, PEI: The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) welcomes one new board member for 2016–2017.

Dave Brand, owner of Apex Land & Livestock, was elected to join CASA’s Board of Directors at “Empowering the AgSafe Family: Keeping Kids Safe,” CASA’s 22nd annual farm safety conference and AGM held in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island October 4 to 6, 2016.

“Safety is a very important and personal thing for me, and I hope to bring a unique producer perspective to the Board of Directors,” says Brand. “At the end of the day, every farm worker should come home safe and every farm family should be together.”

Wendy Bennett (Executive Director, AgSafe) continues as Chair and Jeff Shaw (SAFE Farm Coordinator, SAFE Work Manitoba) assumes the role as Vice-Chair. Rounding out the executive, Niels Koehncke (Director, Canadian Centre for Health & Safety in Agriculture) continues in the role of Secretary and Dean Anderson (Strategic Advisor Agriculture, Workplace Safety & Prevention Services) continues as Treasurer.

David Powers (Director, Health, Safety & Environment, Oxford Frozen Foods) and Carolyn Van Den Heuvel (Farm Safety Coordinator, Farm Safety Nova Scotia) completes the Board of Directors.

CASA’s Board of Directors would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to outgoing board member Tara Huestis (Farm Safety Specialist, PEI Workers Compensation Board) for her years of service and dedication to Farm Safety.
