Get with the Plan! 2013 runs from October 9–11 in Québec City
Winnipeg, September 5, 2013: The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) will hold its annual conference and AGM in Québec City from October 9–11, 2013 at the Hôtel Château Laurier. The conference theme, Get with the Plan!, brings together farm safety stakeholders to explore safety orientation and training for new workers in agriculture.
Marcel Hacault is the Executive Director of CASA. “It is critical that new entrants are properly trained and oriented to agricultural work environments to avoid unnecessary injuries,” he says. “This conference is a great opportunity for participants to learn about the latest in safety training methods and techniques from across the industry in Canada.”
The conference kicks off Wednesday evening with an interactive Safety Circuit featuring agricultural safety initiatives from across Canada. On Thursday, participants attend sessions focusing on employer safety strategies, followed by CASA’s Annual General Meeting and a tour of safety innovations near Québec City, including a visit to a farm safety training centre. Activities on Friday include a session on migrant workers, and an interactive seminar focusing on how to cultivate a culture of safety in the workplace. For a complete list of activities, visit: http://conference.casa-acsa.ca/registration/english/program.aspx.
“We all have a part to play in improving the safety of new workers. As the conference organizer, we hope to get people thinking about what they can do on their own farms, and in their own workplaces, to help new workers start out on the right foot, in a supportive, safety first environment,” says Hacault.
Approximately 70 farmers, safety professionals, suppliers, trainers, manufacturers and researchers are expected to participate in the conference.
