Notice of CASA Annual General Meeting
The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 12:00 Central Time (Manitoba). This year, CASA’s AGM will be hosted virtually.
Appointment of CASA Board
All CASA members are eligible to vote in the Board election, which will be conducted electronically. Voting will take place from September 4 to 11, 2026, and the results will be announced at the CASA AGM.
Presentation of Financial Statement and auditor’s report
The CASA Financial Statements ending March 31, 2026, and the auditor’s report will be presented to the members at the AGM.
Presentation of Organizational Updates & Reports
CASA’s annual report will be available on our website in September.

Election 2026
The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) is looking for two people to join its seven-member Board to help make Canadian agricultural workplaces safer. Be a part of Canada’s leadership team dedicated to Agricultural Health and Safety.
Important Dates
- September 4 to 11, 2026 – Online Election Only CASA members in good standing will be eligible to vote online prior to the CASA AGM. Further details on voting will be provided in September.
- October 1, 2026 – Election results will be announced at the CASA AGM.

Kendra Ulmer, Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health (Saskatoon, SK)
Kendra Ulmer is the Manager and Clinical Director of the Agricultural Health and Safety Network at the Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health (CCRAH), University of Saskatchewan. As a Registered Nurse and an active Saskatchewan farmer, she combines her professional expertise in agricultural occupational health and safety with practical experience gained from living and working in rural Saskatchewan.
Having grown up on a farm and actively involved in her family’s mixed farming operation in south-central Saskatchewan, Kendra has a deep understanding of the rewards and challenges faced by agricultural families and workers. Through her leadership with the Agricultural Health and Safety Network, she supports and promotes health initiatives, injury prevention, occupational health screening, education, and outreach programs designed to support rural and agricultural communities throughout the province.
Kendra is passionate about translating research into practical programs, services, and resources that enhance health and safety outcomes for farmers, ranchers, agricultural workers, and their families. She is committed to fostering strong partnerships among researchers, community organizations, and rural residents to advance agricultural health and safety in Saskatchewan, across Canada and Internationally.
With over 23 years of experience, and through an “Agricultural Health and Safety” lens Kendra has collaborated and partnered with local rural municipalities, provincial governments, and various organizations and agribusinesses both nationally and internationally. She firmly believes that farmers, their families, and their workers are the most valuable assets in agriculture.
Kendra has been a long-standing member of CASA and has collaborated on a variety of conferences/ grant projects and since 2020 representing Saskatchewan on the CASA Provincial Partners Group. She is enthusiastic about the opportunity of contributing her passion for agriculture and background in agricultural health and safety in a future role as an elected CASA Board Member in 2026.
Jason Bourcier, FarmSafe Manitoba (Winnipeg, MB)
Jason Bourcier is the Program Director for FarmSafe Manitoba and an experienced program and operations leader with more than 20 years of progressive experience in agriculture. Early in his career, he developed practical, hands-on experience in fields and barns, working primarily with swine, cattle, and poultry. Prior to becoming Program Director, Jason managed budgets and operations for a multi-species livestock and crop farm at the University of Manitoba’s Glenlea Research Station. He is known for building strong partnerships across academia, industry, and government to advance agricultural safety through awareness, training, and outreach.
Jason is committed to strengthening the culture of safety across Manitoba’s agricultural community. His work supports practical prevention initiatives that help reduce workplace incidents and fatalities while contributing to a safer, more sustainable future for Manitoba producers.
Born and raised on a Manitoba grain farm, Jason graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies, concentrating in Animal Systems.
Jason’s practical agricultural background, operational leadership, and commitment to advancing safety across the industry make him a strong candidate for a position on the board.
Trevor Whalley, AgSafe BC (Langley, BC)
Hello, I am asking for your support to be re-elected to the Board of Directors with the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association.
My name is Trevor Whalley, and I am a safety professional with more than 20 years of safety experience across agriculture, sawmills, municipal operations, and theme parks. I have been a Canadian Registered Safety Professional since 2009. For the past nine years I’ve been the Program Manager with AgSafe Agriculture Association in B.C.
In my role, I support our team across BC by developing practical, farm-ready safety information and resources. I particularly enjoy translating regulations into clear, workable solutions for the people who use them. I have presented at national and international conferences, promoting agricultural safety and sharing practical approaches.
Safety is personal for me. Like too many in our community, I have lost a family member to a workplace accident. That experience strengthens my commitment to finding realistic solutions that connect regulations with the realities of everyday work.
I believe my background in OH&S, risk management, and practical problem-solving would be an asset to CASA. It would be a privilege to serve a second term on the Board and continue promoting a culture of agriculture safety across Canada.
Jody Wacowich, AgSafe Alberta (Drumheller, AB)
Jody Wacowich is the Executive Director of AgSafe Alberta and a passionate advocate for agricultural health and safety. Raised on a cattle operation in Alberta and married to a hog farmer, she developed a lifelong appreciation for agriculture and the importance of strong rural communities. Throughout her career, Jody has worked with producers, industry organizations, and government partners to advance producer-focused initiatives and facilitate risk management planning.
She brings extensive experience in governance, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and program development, as well as a strong commitment to collaboration and accountability. Under her leadership, AgSafe Alberta has expanded education, training, outreach, and resource development to support safer farms and ranches. Jody is committed to working with partners across Canada to advance CASA’s vision of a safer and healthier agricultural industry.
Jody lives near Drumheller with her husband and three girls. She is a big fan of her daughters as they compete in archery, rowing and volleyball. In her free time Jody is a high-performance archery coach and has coached Team Canada at several events. She also has her second-degree black belt.
David Nguyen, South Mill Champs (Aldergrove, BC)
David Nguyen is an experienced health and safety professional with a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP). He is also an active volunteer with the BCRSP, serving as an interviewer for prospective CRSP candidates.
David began his career as a Safety Coordinator in the food manufacturing industry before joining AgSafe BC, where he worked as a Senior Safety Advisor for nine years. Since 2018, he has served as Director of Health and Safety for South Mill Champs, a leading producer in the North American mushroom industry.
In addition to his industry leadership, David has contributed to the development of future safety professionals as a sessional instructor in BCIT’s Occupational Health and Safety Diploma program since 2022. He has also held several governance roles, serving on the AgSafe BC Board of Directors from 2020 to 2025, including terms as Vice Chair and Chair. Currently, he serves as Board Chair of the Farm Safe Foundation, CASA’s charitable organization dedicated to advancing farm safety across Canada.
