Winnipeg, MB, March 18, 2026 – The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) is pleased to announce the launch of its new Emergency Preparedness Hub, bringing together practical information and resources in one place to help farmers, farm families, farm workers, and farming communities.
The Emergency Preparedness Hub contains tools developed by CASA, materials from other organizations, and links to provincial, national, and sector-specific resources. The Hub was designed to help Canadian farms prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergency situations.
“Canadian farms are workplaces, homes, and the backbone of our food supply chain, which is why emergency preparedness on farms isn’t an option — it’s essential,” says Sandra Miller, CASA’s Executive Director. “CASA is proud to introduce the Emergency Preparedness Hub to help farmers proactively plan for emergencies. Because preparedness isn’t just about responding to emergency situations, it’s also about building resilient farms and farming communities.”
Emergency preparedness in agriculture has become a focal topic as Canadian farms face more emergencies from natural disasters and climate change, with the two worst wildfire seasons on record occurring in recent years. The 2025 Canadian wildfire season was the second-worst year on record, behind only the 2023 season, which burned 15 million hectares of land.
“As natural disasters become more frequent, severe, and unpredictable, the need for emergency preparedness on farms has never been greater,” says Miller. “Having clear plans and the right resources in place can make all the difference to help farmers protect their families, workers, animals, and livelihood when the unexpected occurs.”
The launch of the Emergency Preparedness Hub coincides with Canadian Agricultural Safety Week, taking place March 15-21, 2026, with one of the campaign’s daily themes focusing on the importance of emergency preparedness on farms as part of #FarmSafetyEveryday.
The Emergency Preparedness Hub is available on CASA’s website at casa-acsa.ca/emergency-preparedness-hub.
