Notice of CASA Annual General Meeting

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 12:00 Central Time (Manitoba). This year, CASA’s AGM will be hosted virtually. 

Appointment of CASA Board 

All CASA members are eligible to vote in the Board election, which will be conducted electronically. Voting will take place from September 8 to 12, 2025, and the results will be announced at the CASA AGM.

Presentation of Financial Statement and auditor’s report 

The CASA Financial Statements ending March 31, 2025, and the auditor’s report will be presented to the members at the AGM.

Presentation of Organizational Updates & Reports

CASA’s annual report will be available on our website in September.

Board of Directors 2025 Election

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association will hold an election for the three board positions from September 8 to 12, 2025. Only CASA members in good standing can vote online before the CASA AGM. The election will be conducted through an online voting system. Members will receive notifications and voting instructions directly to their email.

Election Tips

Members will be invited to cast their ballots online through ElectionBuddy. You will receive a ballot in your inbox Monday, September 8, 2025. If you haven’t received a ballot in your inbox Monday, please check your spam folder or “other” inbox (Outlook). All votes are cast via secret ballot. You will be asked to rank the candidates in order of preference. The results will be announced during the CASA AGM which will be held via ZOOM, October 1, 2025.

Nominees:

My name is Neil Armer, and I proudly work as the Health & Safety Manager for the AgriHub Family of Companies. Operating ten companies across Canada and the United States in the Hog, Poultry, Dairy, Grain, and Ag Technology sectors, AgriHub strives to be at the forefront of innovation and responsibility in the agriculture industry.

With twenty-two years of experience in Safety and Emergency Management spanning Construction, Health Care, and Agriculture, I have focused on building programs based on fiscal responsibility and fostering a culture of safety at every level. I believe that true success in safety isn’t about compliance; it’s about creating tailored solutions that empower and engage individuals and organizations.

Currently, I am privileged to serve on the advisory committee of the Board of Directors for the Sales and Service Safety Association of Manitoba, where I strive to influence policies and procedures that prioritize the long-term success and sustainability of our organization and of the ones we serve.

Bruce James, P.Eng. is the Chief Engineer of Product Safety and Compliance at AGI, based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. With over two decades of experience in engineering and agricultural safety, he’s focused on practical solutions that improve safety outcomes and align with real-world conditions on farms and in manufacturing.
 
Bruce has served on the CASA Board since 2022 and currently holds the role of Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee. He’s been involved in budget reviews, audits, and financial reporting, and has helped guide CASA through key funding cycles and strategic decisions. He’s also contributed to the Governance Committee, supporting board policy development.
 
He’s a strong advocate for harmonizing Canadian and U.S. safety standards through CSA, ASABE, and ISO, and has worked on initiatives ranging from grain bin entrapment prevention to mental health and workplace safety awareness.
 
Bruce is running for re-election because he is passionate about agricultural safety and sees opportunity ahead for CASA to grow its programs, strengthen partnerships, and expand its impact. He’s committed to helping the organization build on its momentum and continue making agriculture safer for everyone.
 

Dr. Chadwick Koscielny is currently the North American Canola Breeding Lead at Corteva Agriscience. He is responsible for the breeding, testing and advancement of canola hybrids for Canada and the U.S.

Chad grew up on a grain farm in Cardale, Manitoba and attended the University of Manitoba where he completed his BSc and MSc in Agronomy and PhD in Plant Breeding with a focus on breeding for canola heat tolerance. He has worked in soybean and canola breeding for the past 23 years in numerous agronomic and breeding roles.

Currently he works in Carman and lives close to Miami, MB with his wife Michelle and four kids Lincoln, Max, Isabelle and Zoe. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching volleyball, running, curling and golf.

David Nguyen is an experienced health and safety professional with a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from BCIT and a CRSP designation from the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP).
 
He began his career as a Safety Coordinator in the food safety industry before joining AgSafe BC, where he served as a Senior Safety Advisor for nine years. 
Since 2018, David has been the Director of Health and Safety for South Mill Champs’ Canadian operations, a leading producer in the mushroom industry.
 
In addition to his leadership roles, David contributed to safety education as a seasonal legislation instructor for BCIT’s OHS diploma program in 2022. He also held key governance roles on the AgSafe BC Board of Directors from 2020 to 2025, serving as both Vice Chair and Chair during his tenure.
