  • The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association Announces New Board Members for 2025-2026

Winnipeg, MB — October 15, 2025: The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) welcomes two new board members for 2025-2026.

Neil Armer, Health & Safety Manager with AgriHub Family of Companies, and Dr. Chadwick Koscielny, North America Canola Breeding Lead at Corteva Agriscience were elected by CASA’s membership to join the seven-person Board of Directors.

With more than twenty-two years of experience in safety and emergency management across construction, health care, and agriculture, Armer has focused on building programs rooted in fiscal responsibility while fostering a culture of safety at every level. He believes that true success in safety goes beyond compliance—it’s about creating tailored solutions that empower and engage individuals and organizations.

Dr. Koscielny leads canola breeding, testing, and hybrid advancement programs for Canada and the U.S. at Corteva Agriscience. Originally from a grain farm in Cardale, Manitoba, he earned his BSc and MSc in Agronomy and PhD in Plant Breeding from the University of Manitoba.

Armer and Koscielny join a diverse board, with expertise spanning agricultural policy, agribusiness, safety, and rural health.

Reelected in 2025, Bruce James (AGI) continues in the position of Treasurer. Peter Sykanda (Ontario Federation of Agriculture) continues as Chair for the 2024-2025 year. Shelley Kirychuk (Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health), assumes the position as Vice-Chair and rounding out the executive is Cassandra Driedger (BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions) as secretary. Trevor Whalley (AgSafe BC) completes the Board of Directors.

“We are happy to welcome Neil and Chadwick to the Board,” says Peter  Sykanda, CASA’s Board Chair. “Their backgrounds will be invaluable as CASA continues to strengthen its programs and partnerships that support safer farms and rural communities across Canada.”
CASA’s Board of Directors would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and well-wishes to long-serving board member Dean Anderson for his years of outstanding service and dedication to CASA.

The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and safety of farmers, their families, and agricultural workers.
